QQC #2

Quote: Carroll Smith-Rosenberg insists that despite any postmodern complications, we just continue to read and write such stories, for if we "relinquish our grasp on the world behind words," if we "deny the knowability of the world, we lose that aspect of the world we are ... committed to knowing."

Question: My question in relation to this quote, is if one is "committed to knowing", how would we be aware of a "reality" or truth if history is constantly changing?

  1. I feel like yes history is constantly changing but people are committed to knowing and handing down the truth of knowledge that is passed from generation to generation, so we can preserve what little knowledge we have left. I'm not saying that this is the full truth or that we have achieved the truth of our history or reality, but rather that what we have committed ourselves to preserving in history is being written and spoke about everyday so that we can continue to know and commit ourselves to knowing.

  2. History is always changing but I think there are some truths that are never going to change and are going to be something that can be passed from generation to generation because of the fact that the truth can not be changed about certain things. I also think as time passes it's the duty of the next generation to find their own truths as history does progress and change.
