QQC#3

Quote: "Ways of seeing and ways of speaking are reciprocal"

Question: In what way does the author intend to differentiate the two? Like why is it that the two cannot be direct and correspond?

  1. "Seeing" in this sense refers to someones viewpoint and opinion on a certain topic. Someone can speak on a matter and have an argument in mind but not actually believe the argument they are perpetuating. Fleckensteins's intent with this point is to stress that one can discuss something that they may not firmly believe in but still attempt to pursue. In the context of Catherine, it can be assumed that she advocated the gospel of the church but did not see eye to eye on the natural patriarchal society that it often put forth.
