Question: How might new media technologies affect our scopic regime?
I think this quote in particular relates to today's use of media in both politics and social media in our every day lives. Image/word relationships determine how we perceive news, so depending on the source of information, they may portray someone who is acting in one way only for a particular moment but that portrayal of a single moment in their lives could have significant influence on how the audience perceives them as a whole. This also occurs on social media. For instance, on Instagram someone could post one thing that makes them look like a happy, fulfilled individual when in reality they may not always be, however, this one particular moment in their life that was captured in a photograph influences the public perception of them because visual conceptions are very influential/persuasive.
