QQC #4

Quote: "Rhetorical invention is rarely originality of argument, but rather the selection and adaptation of materials to the occasion, the purpose, and the audience."

Question: We learned about Quintilian and how he was not taken as seriously because he did not bring anything new to the table or was not involved with politics. Does this lack of "originality" hinder an argument or does it not matter as much as adapting to the time, place, and audience?
