QUOTE: "For me like my father, being "macho" meant being strong enough to protect and support my mother and us yet being able to show love"

QUESTION: do you think this definition of macho is still relevant in today's world? How might another person define being macho?

  1. I think that definition of macho is not relevant in society at this time and age. Nowadays a "macho" is defined as someone that has manly characteristics or that is very proud of its masculinity. They are seen as very strong and dominant; to behave forcefully. They aren't seen as very sentimental or emotional since that is a quality more attributed to women.

  2. "Macho" is often misconstrued with ideas of control and dominance. As a society, we often want males to fit the strong, masculine, stereotype but it rarely applies to many. Some take great care into preserving their masculinity while others do not feel the need to have a resounding concept of strength and confidence. Many would argue that masculinity paves way for sexist ideals and thus I believe, society is steering away from it.
