QQC - Anzaldúa

Quote: "Ethnic identity is twin skin to linguistic identity - I am my language."

Question: Why do you think people get judged by their language?

  1. Your language shows where you are from almost as quickly as your skin color does. The way you speak can show how you stand on many topics we seem to be judged upon such as education and social/ economical standing.

  2. I think a lot of people are not judged by what language they speak but what country is comes from. I think a lot of people are also closed minded so they're not open to the idea of other languages so they are quick to put down anyone who speaks a different language than them

  3. I believe people get judged because it isn't what the people are used to hearing when it comes to a language. Not everyone is friendly towards foreigners because foreigners are intruding and infiltrating different jobs and opportunities, in this case, American opportunities, and they believe these jobs belongs to Americans only.
