Quote: "When audience members feel their sense of order is threatened or challenged, they are more likely to cling to familiar ways of thinking and to be less open to understanding the perspectives of others.

QUESTION: This quote shows how an audience will better connect with someone who shares similar thoughts, values, and ideas. Do you think that ignorance plays a role in this? And do you think this quote is accurate in today's world, especially the political arena?

  1. I personally believe that ignorance oftentimes does play a role when it comes to people being closed-minded. Although sometimes this is the case, I also believe that it is possible that some people are ignorant because of a lack of information and knowledge, and not because they choose to be. Depending on their belief system and upbringing, their ideals may be all they know, and they may have never been exposed to anything else. I believe that this quote is very accurate in today's world, especially with certain protesters who fail to look in the rear-view mirror and understand other sides. When it comes to the political area, there will always be those who choose to connect with those who have the same mentality as them rather than branching out because they fear change, or just choose not to accept it.

  2. I feel human society are too accustomed to a safe perspective, we feel safer as a group if we all have not the same but similar ideas or goals in society, we feel alienated if thought otherwise and its hard to motivate oneself if so as well. So if you do stand for your own beliefs not so common then others, it will probably be shunned until prooved effective.
