Quote: "Ethnic identity is twin skin to linguistic identity - I am my language."

Question: How does this apply to society today? Are people judged in a negative light if they do not know how to speak a native language?

  1. I think a lot of people do adopt this ideal even in the present day. Many people in this country believe that people that live in America should be able to speak English. I think it's important to remember that many countries today are melting pots of different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds and it's important to be sensitive to that.
